Feature Summary

I think the set is an excellent model of the original Monster Jam™ Megalodon™ considering it is modeled only with 260 pieces.

Build

Like most technic sets, there are a few things; younger kids may need some help.

  • Sometimes an axel needs to pass through several parts and this requires alignment of each part.
  • A part may need to be attached to several pins at a single step and again it may be difficult to align and it may also require a little bit of force to plug it in.

You start by adding structure around the pull-back motor for both A and B models. The Pull-back motor is directly attached to wheels through an axel. After that, you build the car’s chassis, build the hood and add other body decorations. Wheels come the last.

B-Model

B model is longer but has less height. A-Model has a better look. I regret not building the A model first because I have decided to disassemble the B model and re-build the A model again.

Play Features

This set doesn’t have any mechanical features other than the pull-back mechanism. It has large wheels, and it goes fast. You can make it jump over obstacles using a ramp. The set is rigid and doesn’t disassemble easily; it is a pull-back set and definitely will hit around. Compared to Lego® Speed Champions sets, these sets are more play-friendly, and parts don’t fall off. I think this is the main advantage of the “Monster Jam®” series compared to “Speed Champions” for the kids who like to play with their Lego sets instead of displaying them.

You can pull it back more than 1 meter, and it can travel more than 15 meters when released on a concrete floor. Our “Lego 42134 – Monster Jam™ Megalodon™” slips to the right a little when released instead of going straight. I think it is a little bit of luck how it will turn up.

Speed Builds

We have built both models and if you are interested in speed builds, you can check our Youtube videos.
