This Lego set contains a little more than 1000 pieces, in ¼, ½, and full circles and square tiles in rainbow colors. There are 44 different variations of shapes and colors. Not every shape is included for every color. For example, there aren’t any square pieces with red color. It is priced at US $19.99, EUR 20€, £17.99 and released on 01 June 2021. This set doesn’t contain any plate to place these tiles/dots, so you either need to use plates from your existing sets or buy another set that includes some plates. The back of the box may be misleading; it contains parts that actually don’t belong to this set, so be careful if you are buying this for someone as a present. As the name of the set, “Lots of DOTs”, implies the aim of this Lego set is to add dots/tiles to your inventory. You can see all the tile variations on the back of the box. But, please don’t forget that colors may not be correctly displayed on the monitor.
Age Recommendation
Although it says 6+ as age recommendation, younger children can also easily play with this set as long as you are ready to help. Plugging-in tiles are easy, but separating them from a plate is challenging even for adults. Since removing these small tiles with a classic brick separator is difficult, Lego includes a new tile remover tool in some Lego DOTs sets. But, this set doesn’t contain any kind of Lego brick separator tool, which is unfortunate because you will need one. You can check the Lego DOTs set having a “Tile Remover” from bricklink with part numbers 78169 and 69871.
You will also need something to organize tiles. Some other Lego DOTs sets contain storage boxes, like Pineapple Pencil Holder – 41906, but you can also use a toolbox or an Ikea storage box. Anything with lots of compartments will work. You can also use small bows from your kitchen, but your mother may not like this idea.
These things are small; all 1000+ parts can easily fit in your palm if you use both of your hands.
You can also use these tiles with your standard Lego sets, like Lego City, Creator, etc. They are handy for decorating sets with extra details. It is even possible to attach them to lego Technic beams using half pins with studs.
Our Own Creations
Here are some of our creations using Lego DOTs inspired by Minecraft world. We can’t keep our five years old away from Minecraft, so we are trying to merge his way of entertainment with ours.
